State Budget to Allow NYC Casino

New York voters approved the construction of four casinos within the state. That was eight years ago. At present, New York is turning to casinos to solve its budget deficit problems. Thus, Governor Andrew Cuomo approved a state budget that would allow NYC casino.

The governor’s budget included a stipulation to conduct a review of constructing a new casino in New York City. It would be the most prominent gambling expansion in the state. Also, the budget includes the legalization of mobile sports betting. It would lead to people wanting to open a bookie website in the state.

On the downside, sports betting software experts expect the NYC casino to face legal and regulatory challenges. Also, the casino license will be one of the hottest commodities in the state. Las Vegas Sands already showed interest in getting the permit. However, it has many competitors.

The budget included a request for information to determine which operators are likely to apply for the casino license. The Gaming Commission is responsible for releasing a report within six months after receiving the info.

The governor told reporters that he doesn’t want to mix politics in the selection process. Also, he said that state flaws don’t permit new casinos. However, he doesn’t wish for politics to be part of the casino legalization process. He tasked the Gaming Commission to come up with a decision based on merits.

Although there are no guidelines yet, people are already preparing to become a bookie or casino operator in the state. According to industry experts, New York is a vast gambling market. Getting a license to operate in the state is like hitting the jackpot.

The governor and lawmakers from both chambers agree that a new casino can bring additional revenue to the state. Also, it will generate new jobs. That is good news for people who lost their jobs during the pandemic.
