Mirage Casino to Give Out $1.6 Million Before It Closes

As the world-famous Mirage Casino in Las Vegas prepares to shut its doors for good next week, it is offering away more than $1.6 million in cash. The casino will close on Wednesday, July 17, but the unclaimed progressive prizes must be given out.

The casino has announced that from now until July 11th, players may win a guaranteed $200,000 daily from the slot machines. On July 12 and 13, $250,000 will be handed away, followed by $100,000 on July 16. The jackpots for the table games will add another $400,000.

According to state law, winners of progressive jackpots in Nevada must collect their winnings before the casino shuts.

Shutting Down: Mirage Casino

Before the Bellagio and Venetian added dancing fountains and canals, casino tycoon Steve Wynn's 1989 opening of the Mirage on the Las Vegas Strip was historic. It was the first resort to have a sidewalk attraction with its volcano, a sight many will fondly remember.

According to Gambling Recommendations, the Mirage was not just a casino but a hub of unique attractions. It was home to Siegfried and Roy's White Tigers, a Cirque du Soleil performance adapted to Beatles music called 'LOVE,' and the iconic volcano, among other unique experiences that will be missed.

The resort, with a 700-foot guitar-shaped tower, will reopen in 2027 as the new Hard Rock Hotel & Casino.
