Jarred Vanderbilt Signs Extension with LA Lakers

A source familiar with the arrangement told The Associated Press on Friday that the Los Angeles Lakers have extended forward Jarred Vanderbilt's contract for four years at $48 million.

Since the Lakers haven't officially disclosed the long-term agreement with their defensive specialist, the source talked to the AP on the condition of anonymity. There is a player option for the fourth year of the deal.

After acquiring Vanderbilt from the Utah Jazz in February, the Los Angeles Lakers used him extensively in their deep postseason run that took them to the Western Conference finals.

A New Deal for Jarred Vanderbilt

Despite being expected to defend opposing teams' top scorers repeatedly during the season, Vanderbilt still contributed 7.2 points and 6.7 rebounds per game. Vanderbilt started for the Lakers in 13 of their 15 playoff games and 24 regular season games.

After being selected by Orlando in the second round of the 2018 NBA Draft, Vanderbilt made his professional debut in Denver. Before being traded to Utah last summer, he played in 140 games for Minnesota over the course of three seasons.

After dramatically improving their roster at the trade deadline, the Los Angeles Lakers went 18-8 and won two rounds in the playoffs. This summer, Lakers general manager Rob Pelinka has focused on further strengthening or securing the team's core, which includes superstars LeBron James and Anthony Davis.

According to basketball and soccer betting tutorials and news sites, Vanderbilt, Davis, D'Angelo Russell, Austin Reaves, and Rui Hachimura have all signed contract extensions with the Lakers, while the team has also acquired Jaxson Hayes, Taurean Prince, Gabe Vincent, Cam Reddish, and Christian Wood.
