Patriots Looking for a Deal During NFL Draft

According to ESPN, the New England Patriots are apparently "open for business" with the third overall choice in the 2024 NFL Draft, but they are seeking an "unprecedented deal" to trade up from that spot.

Now that the Patriots' scouting director, Eliot Wolf, has said that the organization is monitoring their phone calls for third-string offers, the only way the Patriots will trade is if another team makes them an unbelievable deal.

To get out of their top-three NFL Draft pick—for better or worse—the Patriots would need a "blockbuster" trade. They know the pick can change their franchise. Given the Patriots' desire to replace Mac Jones, who was dealt to the Jacksonville Jaguars, as their franchise quarterback, it seems logical for them to remain put.

Patriots' NFL Draft Decisions

Jayden Daniels of LSU, Drake Maye of North Carolina, and J.J. McCarthy of Michigan, who won the national title, are the three quarterbacks many analysts have projected the Patriots to choose.

Both Wolf and Bill Belichick's replacement as head coach, Jerod Mayo, understand the significance of the selection. In the NFL, it is common knowledge that a team's performance is often directly correlated to the quality of its quarterback.

According to football betting tutorials and news sites, Mayo and "some top decision-makers" recognized the significance of this third overall selection to their New England heritage.
