Jordan Travis Believes Jets Drafted Him to be Aaron Rodgers’ Successor

The New York Jets' rookie quarterback, Jordan Travis, certainly doesn't lack self-assurance.

Even though the 24-year-old quarterback's season-ending fractured leg against North Alabama in November made him an injury concern for many scouts and general managers, the Jets took a chance on his potential and talent by drafting him in the fifth round of the 2024 draft.

During the Jets rookie camp, Travis shared a thought since the draft. He pondered whether the Jets' decision to pick him was with the intention of him stepping into the shoes of the legendary Aaron Rodgers. This belief of his challenges the perception that he was drafted solely as a developmental project in the late round.

Replacement for Aaron Rodgers

According to football betting tutorials and news sites, Travis won't have much to worry about in 2024 while he heals from his shattered leg. With a hopefully healthy Rodgers at quarterback and veteran Tyrod Taylor as his backup, the Jets moved previous second-round selection Zach Wilson to the Broncos over the summer, promoting Travis to third-string quarterback.

Even though Travis can still not participate fully in NFL activities due to his recovery, head coach Robert Saleh of the New York Jets appears to have great hopes for his future.

Travis's senior year was a testament to his leadership and skill. Despite its premature end, his performance was nothing short of remarkable. Under his guidance, the Seminoles achieved an impressive 11-0 record and were in contention for the College Football Playoff. Travis contributed significantly with his 2,756 passing yards, 20 touchdowns, and two interceptions.
