Corey Linsley to Retire After Released by Chargers

The Los Angeles Chargers have released another star player during their busy offseason. Corey Linsley, a former All-Pro center who spent seven seasons with the Packers and three with the Chargers, has been dismissed by the organization. He is likely to retire after a 10-year career.

Despite the Chargers putting Linsley on the reserve/non-football sickness list in 2023 due to a non-emergent cardiac condition, his season ended after only three games. In January, when asked if he would ever play football again, Linsley responded with a resolute '99%' certainty, a testament to his unwavering determination and love for the game.

After serving as a captain for three years with the Los Angeles Chargers, Linsley was nominated for the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year award in his first year of 2021. Along with it, he made the Pro Bowl that year.

Corey Linsley Retires

According to football news reports, Linsley immediately started for the Packers after being selected in the fifth round 2014. To be more specific, Linsley never got into a game in the NFL until he was named the starter. He started 132 games during the regular season and 11 more during the playoffs.

Three of our four league MVPs—Aaron Rodgers, Justin Herbert, and Justin Herbert—could trace their success back to Linsley. During Justin Herbert's first season with Linsley in Los Angeles, he was nominated for his first Pro Bowl.

Linsley's retirement marks a significant shift in the Chargers' lineup this offseason, following in the footsteps of other notable departures, such as wide receivers Mike Williams, Keenan Allen, and Austin Ekeler. His absence will undoubtedly be felt on the field.
