NagaCorp to File an Impairment Charge on Stalled Russian Gambling Project

The Russian gaming project that NagaCorp is involved in, which is now halted due to the conflict in Ukraine, is expected to incur an impairment charge of about $100 million. As a result, the Cambodian casino operator's profitability might be negatively impacted.

According to the Hong Kong-listed casino operator, who announced on Monday night, the projected fee for its gaming and resort project in Vladivostok, located in the Russian Far East, is anticipated to range between $85 million to $95 million.

According to NagaCorp, the assessment is based on an independent revaluation. Depending on the finishing amount, the bottom line for the year's first half may be anywhere from a net profit of $3.1 million to a net loss of $6.9 million.

Thailand Competes with Macau with Casino Legalization

The potential $15.1 billion market in Thailand might be opened up by the initiative to legalize gambling, which would bring new dynamics to the gaming sector in the area. The CLSA analysts have concluded that the casino concessionaires in Macau face "more opportunities than threats" due to this noteworthy development.

The first entertainment complex in Thailand might open its doors by 2029, according to a 100-page study by analysts Jeffrey Kiang, Naphat Chantaraserekul, and Leo Pan. This bodes well for the country's budding gaming industry, which is expected to draw significant investment.

According to casino tutorials and news sites, the gambling business in Macau is projected to remain resilient despite the possible inflow of Chinese visitors. Chinese visitors represent a vital demographic in Thailand's post-COVID tourism rebound. This is due to the essential differences between the tourism offered in Macau and Thailand.

Arizona Diamondbacks Make History in Win Against Dodgers

On Wednesday night, the Los Angeles Dodgers were utterly defeated by the Arizona Diamondbacks, who pounded them 12-4. At first glance, it is a respectable victory over a rival from the same division. However, upon closer inspection, it becomes apparent that this was an unprecedented display of baseball's greatness.

Once in Major League Baseball history, a club allowed numerous home runs before recording an out. However, they shut out their opponent for the remainder of the game, ultimately winning by eight runs or more.

Freddie Freeman and Teoscar Hernandez each hit home runs in the first inning, leading to four runs for Los Angeles versus Arizona. With a 4-1 deficit after the first inning, Arizona rallied to win with runs in the fourth, fifth, sixth, eighth, and ninth innings.

Betsson Gets Licenses for Online Sportsbook and Casino in Peru

One of Betsson AB's subsidiaries has entered the newly regulated Peruvian market with its first local licenses. For the Betsson and Betsafe namesakes, the licenses extend to online gambling and sports betting. We also anticipate obtaining the Inkabet trademark licensing shortly.

After launching in Latin America in 2008, Betsson has become a household name in Peruvian sports betting. The corporation entered the market with its Betsafe brand in 2019, and two years later, it bought Inkabet, a company that offered online casinos and sports betting to Peruvians.

Additional licenses in the region's Colombian and Argentinean markets join the group's existing ones. The City of Buenos Aires, the province of Buenos Aires, and Córdoba are all places where Betsson has licenses in Argentina.

Massachusetts Sportsbooks to Discuss Player Limits

Today, the Massachusetts Gaming Commission announced a significant development. All seven state sportsbooks licensed by the state will be present at a future public meeting, a crucial event addressing player restrictions. This follows a notable incident a month ago when six sportsbooks failed to attend a roundtable discussion on the same topic.

According to gambling news reports, the public meeting has no schedule yet.

Even though most Massachusetts sportsbooks were absent, the long-awaited roundtable discussion on restricting sports betting clients in the province occurred last month before the Massachusetts Gaming Commission. According to the MGC, the operators wanted the meeting to go into executive session, but the other members were against the idea.

Corey Linsley to Retire After Released by Chargers

The Los Angeles Chargers have released another star player during their busy offseason. Corey Linsley, a former All-Pro center who spent seven seasons with the Packers and three with the Chargers, has been dismissed by the organization. He is likely to retire after a 10-year career.

Despite the Chargers putting Linsley on the reserve/non-football sickness list in 2023 due to a non-emergent cardiac condition, his season ended after only three games. In January, when asked if he would ever play football again, Linsley responded with a resolute '99%' certainty, a testament to his unwavering determination and love for the game.

After serving as a captain for three years with the Los Angeles Chargers, Linsley was nominated for the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year award in his first year of 2021. Along with it, he made the Pro Bowl that year.
